I should have written this post yesterday, but other events took precedence... I apologize to all the subscribers who are waiting for certain content and not philosophical ramblings or 'Cahiers de doléances' about how the world works.
Let's get back to the reason I'm here: let's start with the ideas!
The first idea came when I noticed that Substack now includes reading time estimates for posts. I realized that I can easily read a post that's about 5 minutes long, but for posts longer than 5 mins I tend to stop and save for later (or never...). So, I've decided that I'll try to do the same when I write posts (we'll see if I manage to stick to this rule): 5 mins max!
The second idea I'm considering is whether to add a section on collecting (still RPG-related, not anything else!) to this Substack... I need to figure out how to approach it in a way that will make this disorder… ahemmm, I mean this hobby, interesting to non-collectors as well! …suggestions are welcome!
Lastly, I have a doubt about another Substack I created with a friend and I'm trying to figure out how to manage it. For now, I'm still studying the situation, and after Christmas, I'll decide whether to take any action. Needless to say, it’s about RPGs…
Now, onto the update: I haven't written about the project since early October, I'm embarrassed... but at the same time, it's fine because it means I had a lot to work on.
The first piece of news is that I'm waiting for the print proofs of VIII·XII·XX! The manual will have 90 pages, half of which are dedicated to additional or optional rules (there are two types of expansions!), and the other half covers the KUP model (this is the 'How to run a KUP game' series!). I hope to publish it before Christmas, but as always, I'm running late!
Secondly, I've written two new adventures: one for Halloween and the other for Christmas... I haven't edited them yet, and I think I'll do that slowly, planning to release them next year in time for the proper season (though I'll probably be late again!). However, if anyone wants to do a playtest using any OSR system, I'm happy to send out the Christmas adventure!
Finally, I’ve counted 5 more adventure projects that I’ve started and still need to finish writing…
And the latest news: I’ve created a special version of 'The Beginning of the Story' to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the foundation of www.acaeum.com, the D&D collector community I’ve been a part of for nearly 20 years (as an active member... over 20 years as a lurker!). Since this adventure is set in an Acaeum, I’ve made a version with a ‘silver plated style’ variant cover to commemorate the silver anniversary of this great site! I hope to have the print proofs ready before Christmas as well! But, hey: please don’t tell anything to the fellows collectors of the Acaeum, they know nothing about this project, it will be a Xmas surprise!
I have more to share, but I need to stay within the 5-minute mark... though I suspect I haven’t quite managed that…
